Metal Roof Gable End Trim Installation

The edging or eave flashing consists of metal strips that are used to cover the perimeter of the roof.

Gable trim creates watertight transitions in the critical locations where the roof s slope or direction changes. If this type of trim is used it is important to properly seal sealer tape is commonly used and fasten the cladding sheet along the gable to prevent water from migrating under the sheet and into the building. Rake trim can be flat with no overhang or it can overhang the gable end like an eave. The final thing to do is install the end wall trim.

Add up the total amount of gable of the roof and divide by 9 5 10 long length. The edge of your metal roof needs a different trim than the peak of your metal roof. To install gable trim fit the pieces in place fastening through at 36 spacing maximum both top and bottom nail ing fanges. We have our z trim installed and tape seal on top of the z trim so we can install this and put it up against the wall. It should overlap the edge of the gutter if you have them. With the end wall flashing in place i use stitch screws to attach it to the z trim and to the gable trim.

Apply the tape seal to the top of the z just as we have at the eave and other places of the roof. We are ready to install the gable trim using pop rivets with tape seal in between the gable trim and the z. I m going to install one between each.
